BECOME AN APPRENTICE AT AUSTRIA DRUCKGUSS
Which apprenticeships can we offer?
Metal Technician (Mechanical Engineer / Toolmaking Technician)
Electrical Engineer
Metal technician (labour market trend: rising)
Metal (iron, aluminium, copper, etc.) is one of the most important materials in most areas of technology. The main areas of application are mechanical and plant engineering, vehicle construction, shipbuilding, bridge construction, tool construction, etc. Metals are processed in a wide variety of ways and formed into workpieces. The machining techniques are divided into machining processes (drilling, turning, milling, grinding, sawing, thread cutting, engraving, punching, etc.), non-cutting processes (forging, bending, rolling, drawing, embossing, punching, driving, casting, etc.) and joining processes (welding, soldering, gluing, etc.). The career opportunities in metal working and processing are correspondingly diverse.
The training in this apprenticeship consists of a
basic module (duration: 2 years) and at least one of the following main modules
(duration: 1 1/2 years):
- Mechanical engineering
- Toolmaking technology
Main Module “Mechanical Engineering”
Metal technicians for mechanical engineering manufacture workpieces and components for machines and production plants with computer-controlled machine tools (CNC machines), which they also program. They assemble the parts, assemble the machines and equipment at the place of use (factory hall, machine hall) and participate in commissioning (carrying out test runs for functional control and exact adjustment). In addition, they carry out regular maintenance and repair work on the machines and systems. (Source AMS Business lexicon) Status 2018.
Main module “Toolmaking technology”:
Metal technicians in the field of tool making technology manufacture machine tools and assemblies for punching, moulding and injection moulding, e.g. cutting, punching, bending or forming tools for machine tools and production machines as well as die casting and injection moulds for machines for the manufacture of plastic products, but also precision measuring instruments for tool machining. Metalworking technicians for toolmaking technology work themselves with machine tools, which are programmable machines (CNC machines) in which the exact dimensions of the workpieces and the processing steps can be entered, and which then automatically process the workpieces with various processing techniques (drilling, sawing, turning, milling, grinding, eroding, etc.). Other tasks include assembly, adjustment, commissioning and testing as well as maintenance and repair of tools and assemblies.
Electrical engineer (labour market trend: rising)
Training in this apprenticeship occupation consists of a basic module and at least one of the main modules “Electrical engineering and building services engineering” Total duration: 3 1/2 years
- Erection and commissioning of building services engineering systems as well as electrical machines, devices and systems,
- Maintenance and servicing of building services engineering systems and of electrical machines, equipment and installations,
- Finding and rectifying faults and malfunctions in building technology systems and in electrical machines, devices and systems,
- Installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance and servicing of control engineering systems as well as searching for and rectifying faults and malfunctions in these systems,
- Carry out the work in accordance with the relevant safety regulations, standards, environmental and quality standards.
